Almost every “get healthy” and “weight loss” document you go through will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is certainly very good advice. But at times the last thing you want to do is put together a whole supper for yourself and your family. Sometimes you just want to reach the drive through on the way home and call it a day. Why shouldn’t you be capable of do this every now and then and not have a bunch of guilt about slipping up on your diet? You can do this because most of the popular joints are now promoting “healthy” menu options to keep their businesses up. Here is how one can find appropriate food choices at the drive through.
Visit a drive through in a place who has made it a practice to offer healthier options to people. For example, Arby’s won’t serve hamburgers. You can consume roast beef sandwiches, wraps and salads as an alternative. Wendy’s, although no stranger to the hamburger, additionally includes plenty of other meal choices: large salads, large baked potatoes and other tasty items fill its menu. Not all fast food locations are as unhealthy as McDonalds with its deep fried every thing.
Logic states that that one the easiest way to stay healthy and balanced is to avoid the drive through and never eat fast food. While, in most cases, this is a good strategy, if you make intelligent choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes the best thing is to let another person create your dinner. If you ultimately choose healthy items, the shame usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

- Provide 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- You need 24 oz tomato sauce
- You need 4 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
- Get 4 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- Get 1 cup parmesan cheese
- Take 2 eggs
- Use 4 tbsp parsley
- Get 1 tbsp salt
- Take 1 tsp black pepper
- Get 1 tsp oregano
- Take 1/4 cup halved pepperoni slices (optional)
Steps to make Baked Ziti:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Boil water. Add some salt (about 1 tbsp) to flavor the pasta as it cooks. Once it boils, add pasta and cook for 15 minutes. Once pasta is done cooking, mix in a bit of sauce to keep it from sticking.
- Heat a pan at medium heat, add the beef and some water (maybe 2 cups or so). Brown the chopped meat. This will take about 10 minutes - you’ll know it’s done when the juice is clear.

- Get a large foil roast pan and coat the bottom with about 1/4 cup of sauce.
- In a large bowl, mix together the meat and all ingredients, except the cooked pasta. Leave a little bit of sauce to the side to drizzle over the top later.
- After the meat, cheeses, eggs, and seasonings are mixed well, add the pasta and mix well again.
- Put the ziti in the baking pan. Sprinkle some extra mozzarella and parmesan cheese (maybe 2 handfuls of each) over the top layer. Then drizzle the last of the sauce over top.
- Cover the pan with foil and cook in the oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Then, take off the foil and cook for another 20 minutes or so.
