The ingredients needed to prepare Kadala Curry:
- Prepare 3 Cups cooked black Chickpeas
- Use 1 1/2 tbsp Coconut Oil
- Provide 1 small Cinnamon
- Take 4 green Cardamom
- Use 4 Cloves
- Use 1 tsp Fennel Seeds
- Prepare 1 big Onion (finely chopped)
- Prepare 1 Spring Curry leaves
- Use 1 tblsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- Get 1 big Tomato (finely chopped)
- Prepare 2 green Chilli's (slit)
- Get 2 tsp Kashmiri Mirch
- Provide 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- Use 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Use 1 tsp black Pepper Powder
- Prepare 2 tsp Garam Masala
- Use 1 Cup Coconut Milk
- Get 1/2 Cup Water
- Use to taste Salt
- Get To Temper:
- Get 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
- Get 3/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
- Take 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- Prepare 5-6 Curry leaves
- Get 2 dry red Chillies
Instructions to make Kadala Curry:
- Heat 11/2 tblsp Coconut Oil in a pan, add Cinnamon, 4 Cloves, 1 tsp Fennel Seeds and let them sizzle for few seconds. Then add the finely chopped Onion, 1 spring Curry leaves and 2 slit green Chilli's to it and saute it until the colour of the Onion changed to slightly brown.
- Add 1 tblsp Ginger-Garlic Paste and mix well. Saute until the raw smell goes away.
- Now add the chopped Tomato and Salt to it. Let it cook till the Tomato turns mushy.
- Now add 2 tsp Kashmiri Mirch, 1 tbsp Coriander Powder, 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder, 1 tsp black Pepper Powder, 2 tsp Garam Masala to it and mix well. Saute everything for a few seconds.
- Add 1 Cup of Coconut Milk and mix well. Then add 3 Cups cooked black Chickpeas and 1/2 Cup Water. Mix everything well and let it summer on low heat for 20-25 Minutes.
- For tempering heat 1 tbsp Coconut Oil in a small pan. When it's hot add 3/4 tsp Mustard Seeds and let them splutter for few seconds. Then add 1/4 tsp Asafoetida, 5-6 Curry leaves and 2 dry red Chilli's to it. Saute everything for few seconds and then pour it over the curry and mix. Kadala Curry is ready to enjoy !
