Almost every single article about losing weight and getting healthy tells readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and to carry out all of their own cooking. There’s some benefit to this. From time to time, though, the last thing you need is to have to make a meal from scratch. Sometimes almost all you want is to go to the drive through and get home as quickly as possible. There is no reason that you shouldn’t be able to do that once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You are able to do this because lots of the popular joints are now advertising “healthy” menu options to keep their businesses up. Here’s how it is possible to eat healthfully when you’re at a fast food spot.
Choose your drive through according to whether it has better options available. For instance, Arby’s won’t serve hamburgers. Instead, the options consist of roast beef and chicken sandwiches, wraps and big salads. Wendy’s, although no stranger to the hamburger, also includes an abundance of alternative meal choices: large salads, large baked potatoes and other tasty items fill its menu. Not every little thing is McDonalds featuring its deep fried chicken parts as well as other terribly unhealthy items.
Traditional logic tells us that one sure way to get healthy and lose weight is to by pass the drive through and to remove fast food restaurants from your thoughts. While, for the most part, this is a good strategy, if you make smart choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes the thing you need most is just to have someone else do the cooking. When you choose healthful menu items, you do not have to feel guilty about visiting the drive through.
