Instructions to make Spicy Misal Pav:
- First put the ankurit usal (sprouts) in a pressure cooker by adding some salt, water & turmeric powder on a high flame, wait for a whistle. Then quickly remove the pressure from the cooker forcefully without wasting any time.
- Now take a pan and add onion slices, garlic pods, khobra slices, whole dried red chilli, green chillies & cinnamon stick. Dry roast them until it turns golden in colour as shown in the image below.
- Now let it cool down then add them in a grinder, then add half tsp turmeric powder, salt, coriander-cumin powder & half tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder & then grind everything into a smooth paste. Even grind the tomato and keep it aside.
- Now in the same pan add 5 tbsp refined oil. Once the oil gets hot, add sabut jeera. Let them splutter. Now add the tomato puree to it, now add add 2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder, half tsp turmeric powder and some salt. Mix everything well. Saute it for few minutes then add the grinded onion & khobra paste to it.
- Now fry the masalas for about 3 mins then add goda masala & saute them until oil starts releasing from the masalas.
- Now add the usal to it. And add the desired amount of water to it. Mix everything well. Now cover the pan and cook it on a low flame for about 8 to 10 mins. Your misal is now ready. Lastly garnish it with some chopped coriander leaves.
