- You need 1 big bowl toor dal
- Take 2 drumsticks (sehjan)
- Use 4 kokam 1 big tomato
- Provide 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- Use 1/2 tsp cummin seeds
- Use 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Take Pinch asafoetida
- Prepare 8/10 curry leaves
- You need 2 tsp homemade kanda lasun masala
- Get 1/2 inch ginger
- Take 4/5 garlic cloves
- Prepare 2 tsp grated dry coconut
- Provide 2 tsp oil
- Use as per taste Salt
- Provide Small size jaggery
- You need as required Water
Instructions to make Drumstick curry:
- Wash and pressure cook the toor dal along with water for 3/4 whistles.
- Cool down and keep aside.
- Grind ginger garlic coconut to a smooth paste.
- Meanwhile cut drumsticks into lengthwise, remove it's skin & boil along with water & pinch of salt. Do not over cook.
- Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cummin seeds and let them crackle.
- Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves, grind paste & kanda lasun masala. Saute for a minute.
- Add cooked dal, mix well.
- Add water as per consistency of dal. It should not be too thick or thin.
- When it's boil add kokum, jaggery, salt & boiled drumsticks.
- Cook for 5 minutes.
- Serve with hot steam rice.
