Almost every single “get healthy” and “weight loss” document you study will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is really good advice. But at times the last thing you wish to do is put together a whole supper for yourself and your family. Sometimes you just would like to reach the drive through on the way home and call it a day. There is simply no reason you shouldn’t be able to make it happen once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. This is because a lot of the popular fast food restaurants around are trying to “healthy up” their menus. Here is how you can eat healthfully when you reach the drive through.
Pick out a drive through with a restaurant that is known for catering to people with better palates. For example, Arby’s doesn’t serve hamburgers. Alternatively it is possible to select from roast beef sandwiches, salads, wraps and various healthier items. Wendy’s, of course, is known for its square burgers, but the menu there has lots of wholesome choices like salad, potatoes and chili. Not many fast food places are as unhealthy as McDonalds with its deep fried everything.
Logic states that that one the simplest way to stay balanced is to bypass the drive through and never eat fast food. While, in most cases, this is a good plan, if you make intelligent choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. At times the thing you need most is just to have someone else do the cooking. If you ultimately choose healthy items, the remorse usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.
