- Get 1 cup grated coconut
- Provide 1 and 1/2 inch ginger, chopped

- Provide 1 tsp ponch phoran
- Use 1/3 tsp hing powder
- Get 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

- Prepare 1 tbsp cooking oil
Instructions to make Chana dal chutney:
- Fry the chana dal to golden brown on low flame. Soak in sufficient water for 1 hour.
- Discard the water and keep soaked chana on a plate. Chop the ginger piece.
- Heat oil and add ponch phoran. When splutter add curry leaves and fry for half a minute.
- Add chopped ginger, chilli, hing and fry for half minute.
- Then add the soaked dal, grated coconut, imli, turmeric powder and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes on low flame.
