The ingredients needed to make Gatte ki subji:
- Get For gatta -
- Prepare 1 cup gram flour
- Provide 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Get 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Prepare 1/2 teaspoon coriander cumin powder
- Get 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Get 1/2 teaspoon carom seeds
- Prepare to taste Salt
- Prepare 2 tbsp oil
- Prepare For curry -
- Take 1 cup curd or yoghurt
- Prepare 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- Get 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Prepare 2 teaspoons coriander cumin powder
- Get 3 tbsp oil
- Use 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Prepare 6 garlic cloves
- Use 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- Get 1 chopped green chilli
- You need 1/2 teaspoon hing /asafoetida
- Get 1 onion
- Prepare to taste salt
- Take 2 tbsp coriander leaves
Instructions to make Gatte ki subji:
- Take gram flour and add red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander cumin powder, salt, cumin and carom seeds to it. Mix everything well. Now add oil and mix it again. With the help of 2 to 3 tablespoons of water make a dough.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and with the help of your hand make long gatta from it. Now boil two cups of water in a wide pot and as soon as it boils add gatta to it and cover and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes. Now flip it and cover and cook it for another 5 minutes on medium to high heat. When bubble like surface is seen, it is done.
- Takeout cooked gatta in a plate and keep the water separate which will be used later in the curry. Cut these gatta into small pieces.
- To make curry, add oil in a pot. Add cumin seeds and make it brown. Now add chopped garlic and saute until pink in colour. Add hing, chopped green chillies, ginger and onion to it. Saute onion until transparent but do not make it Brown.
- Take yoghurt in a bowl and add Chilli powder, turmeric and coriander cumin powder to it and mix it very well. Add this curd mixture to the cooked onion and mix everything well. Add water and cook for 2 minutes. Now add prepared gatta to it and cook it for another 5 minutes. Water can be added as required. Add chopped coriander leaves and turn off the heat.
- Serve it hot with roti and rice.
