The ingredients needed to prepare Idli Sambhar:
- Provide FOR SAMBHAR
- Use 1 cup Tuar dal
- Get 1 cup chopped cauliflower
- Take 1/2 cup chopped carrot
- Provide 1/2 cup chopped brinjal

- Provide 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- You need 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Get 1 tablespoon sambhar powder
- Provide 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Take 2 chopped green chillies
- Use 5-6 curry leaves
- Take 1 pinch Asofoetida
- Use 1 finely chopped onion
- Provide 1 finely chopped tomato
- Take 1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
- Use 7-8 garlic cloves
- Prepare 2 tablespoon oil
- Take FOR IDLI
- Prepare 1 cup semolina
- You need 1 cup curd
- Provide to taste Salt
- Get 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
- You need 1 teaspoon eno salt
- Use as needed Oil for greasing
Instructions to make Idli Sambhar:
- FOR SAMBHAR- Add washed toor dal, salt and pepper, turmeric powder, asafoetida, mix vegetables with four cups water in a pressure cooker.
- Close the lid and cook for 4-5 whistles or until done.
- Add oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, chopped garlic & curry leaves in it.
- When they crackle add onion and soute them till they become transparent.
- Add tomato & green chilli in it & soute for 5min.
- Add salt and pepper, Sambhar powder & stir well.
- Add boiled dal & tamarind pulp in it. Stir well and cook for five minutes.
- Serve hot with rice, idli, dosa or vada.
- FOR IDLI- Take semolina in a bowl.
- Add curd, salt and pepper in it. Mix properly.
- Add eno salt in it.
- Boil water in a idli cooker.
- Grease the idli stand.
- Pour the mixture in idli stand.
- Place the idli stand in idli cooker and cover it.
- After 8-10 min. Switch off the flame and rest it for five minutes.
- Put idli with the help of knife.
- Serve hot with Sambhar.
