Almost every “get healthy” and “weight loss” document you go through will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is actually excellent information. Occasionally, though, the last thing you choose is to have to prepare meals from scratch. Once in a while you just want to pay a visit to the drive through when you are on your way home and complete the day. Why shouldn’t you be able to do this every so often and not have a bunch of guilt about slipping up on your diet? This is because a lot of the well-known fast food restaurants around are trying to “healthy up” their choices. Here is how to eat healthfully when you hit the drive through.
Concentrate on the sides. Not that long ago, the sole side dish item at a fast food restaurant was French fries. Now more or less all of the well-known fast food places have broadened their menus. There are lots of salads around these days. Chili is another option. Baked potatoes can even be purchased. You could possibly get fruit. There are so many selections that you can choose that do not force you to consume foods that have been deep fried. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” try to create a meal from side dishes. When you are doing this you can keep your fat content as well as your calorie counts low.
Fundamental logic states that the best way to lose weight and get healthy is to ban fast food from your diet entirely. While this is usually recommended all you need to do is make a couple of good choices and visiting the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. At times what you require most is just to have someone else do the cooking. When you choose healthful menu items, you do not have to feel guilty about visiting the drive through.
