Before you jump to Tomato Chicken Curry recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about Choosing Wholesome Fast Food.

Almost each and every “get healthy” and “weight loss” document you read will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is certainly excellent information. Now and then, though, you definitely do not want to make a whole meal for your family or even just for yourself. Once in a while you just want to pay a visit to the drive through while you’re on your way home and end the day. There isn’t any reason that you shouldn’t be permitted to do this and not be plagued by guilt about slipping on your diet. This can be done because plenty of the popular fast food places are attempting to make their menus better now. Here is how to eat healthy when you reach the drive through.

Aim at the side dishes. It wasn’t that long ago that French Fries were your sole side dish choice at a restaurant. Now most of the fast food menus have been widened quite a bit. Now plenty of them offer you salads. Chili is yet another choice. Baked potatoes can even be purchased. You can get fruit. There are a lot of alternatives that don’t involve eating one thing deep fried. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” try to build a meal out of side dishes. This helps you keep the calorie count low and lessen your fat intake.

Traditional logic tells us that one positive way to get healthy and lose fat is to skip the drive through and to remove fast food restaurants from your thoughts. Most of the time this is a good idea but if you make great choices, there is no reason you can’t visit your drive through once in a while. Sometimes the thing you need is to let another person make your dinner. If you choose healthy things, the remorse usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

Steps to make Tomato Chicken Curry:
  1. Heat the canola oil in large, deep pot over medium heat until it simmers. Sprinkle in the cumin seeds and stir a bit. The cumin should begin to sizzle immediately, become fragrant and darken slightly.
  2. Immediately add chopped red onion and bay leaves to their pot. Cook, stirring often, until the onion is dark brown in color, about 12 to 15 minutes.
  3. As the onion cooks, drain the juice from the can of tomatoes in a liquid measuring cup; set aside. In a food processor, add the tomatoes, garlic, ginger, Chile's, turmeric and paprika. Puree a few seconds.
  4. Add tomato base to onion mixture and cook, stirring, until thick, about 10 minutes. It should be a paste-like consistency.
  5. When the mixture begins to stick to the bottom of the pot, add the chicken and potatoes. Cook, stirring, until the chicken is opaque and the sauce sticks to the meat and potatoes, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Add the honey/nectar to reserved tomato juice, then add enough water to make 1.5 cups of liquid. Pour into pot. Season with salt as desired and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and gently simmer, uncovered and stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and the sauce is slightly thickened, about 30 minutes.
  7. Stir in the yogurt and sprinkle the Garam Masala.
  8. Serve over cooked basmati rice. Top with cilantro.
