Just about every single article you read about improving your health or slimming down is going to tell you to ignore the drive through and cook all of your meals instead. There’s some value to this. Sometimes, though, the last thing you need is to have to prepare an evening meal from scratch. Once in a while you just want to check out the drive through while you are on your way home and complete the day. There is zero reason you shouldn’t be able to do this once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You are able to do this because most of the popular joints are now promoting “healthy” menu options to keep their businesses up. Here’s how you’ll be able to eat healthfully when you’re at a fast food restaurant.

Go with the side dishes. It wasn’t so long ago that French Fries were your sole side dish choice at a restaurant. Now virtually all of the popular fast food places have widened their menus. Now quite a few of them offer you salads. You can also select Chili. Baked potatoes can even be purchased. You can make fruit. There are a lot of options that don’t include eating one thing deep fried. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” make an effort to create a meal out of side dishes. You’ll maintain your calorie and fatty food count lower and escape commitment.

Standard logic tells us that one certain way to get healthy and shed pounds is to drop the drive through and to remove fast food restaurants from your thoughts. While, for the most part, this is a good strategy, if you make smart choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes what you need is to let other people produce your dinner. When you choose healthful menu items, you do not have to feel guilty about visiting the drive through.

Steps to make Beef Kofta Curry:
  1. I put all the ingredients mentioned under the kofta list and minced it fine. Mix well and make kofta balls, slightly smaller than golf balls
  2. Some people like to fry the kofta balls, but I am going to drop these just as in the curry base and trust me the kofta balls won't fall apart! They actually get real juicy and get all the yummy spice flavour in
  3. Alright time to make the curry base!
  4. In some heated oil, add the onions, ginger and garlic pastes, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods and bay leaves
  5. Once the onions have softened add the tomatoes, green chilli and all the masala powders: coriander, cumin, garam masala and turmeric powder. I added a cup of water and also the beaten yogurt. Let the curry start to boil and then about 7 minutes later, gently drop the kofta balls into the curry
  6. I made sure the kofta balls didn't touch each other and also I did not stack them
  7. Cook on medium low and put a lid on the pot. Give it around 25minutes and check if the meat balls are cooked. It should be and the curry will be nice and thick and extremely flavourful
  8. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves
  9. Serve with some freshly made rice and some home made rotis or store bought naans haha
